Super slow day at the office. Not too many patients came in for services since it was so hot outside...108 degrees F. This is Dr. Begam, one of the doctors whom I shadow and to whom I report.
This is Dr. Hashish, the other doctor working in the office.
This is Rahemthuni, the general maid/caretaker at the clinic. She has absolutely no teeth, a very high-pitched donald duck-like voice, and is so sweet. She always asks me if I want tea or coffee even though she knows I will say no, just in case I change my mind.
This patient (Dr. Begam says she's maybe 30 years old) was super small and frail. Maybe only 4'7". She was referred to the clinic from a local doctor who suspected she might have leprosy. She had extremely dry and itchy skin patches all over her body.
The type of patch visible here all over her ear covered large parts of her body. I believe the pus and blood is a result of scratching. Dr. Begam told her she didn't have leprosy and referred her to a dermatologist at an American NGO hospital in Nellore.
