Another day in physiotherapy. I continued working on my case studies and hanging out with the breakfast club. I somehow managed to not take a single photo all day. I did get further into reading Mountains Beyond Mountains and have thought a lot about how I'm seeing Paul Farmer's influence on Damien and TB treatment. The doctors constantly reassure me to not worry so much contracting MDRTB, but after reading the book and learning Damien's own survival rates for MDRTB patients, I think this fear will always be present while I'm working here.
Kalyani invited me to her sister's house, which is a 10 minute auto ride away from the clinic. I made plans with her to go the following morning and was super excited about it. On second thought though, I asked Peter's opinion and blessing about going there, and he advised me not to go since the area was unknown and he didn't think it would be a for sure safe situation for me going alone with her as a girl. I made an excuse and told Kalyani that my uncle wouldn't let me go, and she seemed slightly upset. I wonder how much she caught onto why I actually couldn't go--essentially because she was of a lower caste and that she was likely from a bad area. I wish I could go!!
